Located in West Des Moines, SonnLeit Violin Studio provides violin lessons from Suzuki raised and trained violinist Theresa Sonnleitner.
Prior to moving to West Des Moines, Theresa earned a music performance degree from the University of Iowa and taught violin lessons in Williamsburg for three years. For the past year, Theresa has been teaching violin students and group classes at the Earlham Music Academy. Besides teaching group classes, Theresa has coached chamber groups in Ames and Iowa City.
Theresa started playing violin at the age of 4 with Paul Manulik at the then newly opened Cedar Rapids Symphony School. When she was 10, Theresa became a student of Doris Preucil, founder of the Preucil School of Music in Iowa City, Iowa. At the same time, Theresa traveled to South Korea to attend the Suzuki National Convention as a soloist and as a part of the Gansdorf Quartet. Besides South Korea, Theresa has performed around the world, traveling to England, soloing for the Suzuki National Convention in Japan, Germany, Austria, and Italy, and attended many music camps in the states. In Japan, Theresa played for Shinichi Suzuki at his house! Recently, Theresa traveled to China and performed for the First Lady of China.
In Iowa, Theresa soloed with the Cedar Rapids Symphony multiple times and soloed with the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra. She was also a member of the Cedar Rapids Symphony.
